Reacting to arrest of military commander | Turkish-backed factions bring in reinforcement to Afrin and Azaz

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported seeing Turkish-backed factions in Afrin and neighbouring villages on high alert, after Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah faction arrested a commander of Al-Sultan Murad Division and “Tha’eroun Movement” near Kafr Janna junction in Afrin countryside, without knowing reasons behind the detention.

According to sources, Al-Sultan Murad Division brought in military reinforcement towards Sajo village in Azaz countryside in the northern Aleppo countryside.

On the same context, a commander of Al-Sultan Murad recorded a voice tape demanding his members to head towards Sajo region to face Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah faction.

Members of Al-Sultan Murad Division and Al-Malik Shah Al-Amshat faction were put on high alert in Afrin and Al-Shaikh Al-Hadid, amid arrival of reinforcement. No further information have been reported.

On January 4, SOHR reliable sources reported that “Ahrar Al-Sham” checkpoint stationed on Saloura bridge near Jandaris district in Afrin countryside, blocked a car travelling members of their own faction.

This incident led to breaking out clashes between members were stationed at the checkpoint and the gunmen who were in the car, killing the military commander of Ahrar Al-Sham and his nephew, and injuring a number of members stationed at the checkpoint.

The military commander is from Al-Ankawi village in Sahl Al-Ghab area in Hama countryside.
