Accepted reconciliation deals | Regime security services arrest over 40 people in eastern Deir Ezzor

Reliable SOHR sources have reported that regime security services arrested over 42 people of those who have accepted the recent reconciliation deals which were conducted in the villages of Al-Meray’iyah, Al-Jafrah, Al-Bolail, Al-Zabari and Al-Mohasan in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. According to SOHR sources, these people were arrested for evading mandatory conscription in regime army, as the latest reconciliations could not prevent prosecution. It is worth noting that the regime security campaign are still ongoing, amid reports on more arrests. Meanwhile, several young and adult men have fled to SDF-held areas.

 

Regime forces and security services started reconciliation deals in Deir Ezzor city on November 13, 2021, before they moved to Al-Mayadeen city in eastern Deir Ezzor and Al-Bokamal city on the Syria-Iraq border.

 

Yesterday, Al-Raqqah city witnessed broad rejection by tribes and dignitaries of the region over the regime’s announcement of starting “reconciliation deals” a few days ago in the south-east countryside of the city.

 

Activists, elders, and dignitaries have gathered in Al-Afadlah Tribe headquarters in the city and issued a statement in which they stressed that the process of striking “reconciliations” posed a direct threat to the region that has been out of the Syrian regime’s control since 2013.

 

It is worth noting that the regime forces and Iranian-backed militias controlling only several villages and towns in the west and the south-east countryside of Al-Raqqah.

 

On January 10, reliable sources informed SOHR that regime security services opened a reconciliation committee at Al-Basil School in Sabkhah village in the eastern countryside of Al-Raqqa, to settle the “security situation of wanted persons” with Russian guarantees.

 

On January 7, SOHR activists reported after concluding reconciliations in Al-Mayadeen city that started on November, 2021 by the regime forces in areas under their control in Deir Ezzor, the regime forces on January 3 opened a center for striking reconciliation in Al-Shamitiyah town in west Deir Ezzor adjacent to areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic forces (SDF).
