Violations in Afrin | Turkish-backed militiamen arrest civilian, while others attack child and his father
Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported that members of Sultan Murad Division arrested a civilian from Darweesh village in Raju district on January 12. The civilian was arrested in Al-Ashrafiyah neighbourhood in Afrin city and his mobile phone was confiscated for unknown reasons.
It is worth noting that the civilian had been arrested in 2018, and he was released after paying a ransom of 6,500 USD.
On the other hand, members of Samarqand Brigade which controls Kafr Safrah village in Jendires district beat a child and his father following a fight between the child and other children of displaced families on January 10.
According to SOHR sources, a fight had erupted between the 13-year-old child who is known by his initials as M. H. and three other displaced children living in Kafr Sfra village, before fathers of the displaced children, who are members of Samarqand Brigade, beaten the child and his father brutally in front of their house, causing cuts and bruises to the boy and his father who were taken to the hospital.
On January 14, reliable sources informed SOHR that a patrol of the Turkish intelligence service stormed a house of the headman of Qoujman village in Jendires district, in the early hours of Thursday morning, arresting him after severely beaten his father, sister and brother.
According to sources, the major was charged of “trading narcotics and imposing levies on the village residents on behalf of ‘Abu Saleh Orm’ a leading member in Turkey-backed Al-Hamzah division.”
On the other hand, the Turkish Intelligence Service, on the same day, arrested the mayor of “Qerbat” village in Jendires district and his son. The two persons have been taken to Afrin city, but charges behind their detention remained unknown.
