SOHR: In front of the Russians..Iranian militias link the east of the Euphrates to the west of Syria

Iranian militias continue to pass weapons from Iraqi territory to Syria, and through various routes.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Iranian military leaders, in the presence of leaders from the regime’s army and the leader of the so-called “National Defense” militia in Deir ez-Zor governorate, opened a bridge linking the areas controlled by Iran and its militias west of the Euphrates with the seven villages occupied by Iran east of the Euphrates, in Deir Ezzor countryside Al-Zour, where the bridge connects the areas of Al-Hussainiya, east of the Euphrates, and Al-Hawiqa, west of the Euphrates.

While observers saw that these operations are carried out with the aim of passing shipments of weapons and military equipment between the areas of Iranian militia presence on both banks of the river.

Private bridge despite the presence of the Russians

This came weeks after the militia began construction of its own bridge on the Euphrates River linking the seven villages under its control east of the Euphrates, namely Hatla, Murat, Mazloum, Khasham, Al-Tabia, Al-Salihiya and Al-Hussainiya, with the areas under its control west of the Euphrates.

According to the information, construction operations are taking place there on the eastern and western banks of the Euphrates, from the Al-Husayniyah areas to the east of the Euphrates, and Al-Hawiqa to the west.

While the construction of the bridge comes despite the presence of a bridge called the “Russian Bridge” linking the eastern and western Euphrates regions, the new bridge to be built will be for the pro-Iranian militias located in the eastern and western Euphrates regions.

Continuous raids

It is noteworthy that, during the past months, international coalition warplanes have targeted Iranian militia sites in the western Euphrates region on Syrian territory, including forces affiliated with the Iraqi and Lebanese Hezbollah militia, the Fatemiyoun Brigade and others, especially with the increase in weapons smuggling activity through the two countries.

The presence of militias is mainly concentrated in each of the illegal military crossings in the countryside of Al-Bukamal, Al-Jam`iyyat neighborhood, Al-Kift neighborhood in Al-Bukamal city, Al-Imam Ali base, Al-Abbas and Al-Jalaa villages, and other locations in the Al-Bukamal Badia.
