Ending Iranian expansion after Israeli attacks | Russian Military Police launch patrols in Latakia port

SOHR activists have reported that the Russian Military Police and Russian forces have launched patrols in Latakia port, in light of the public discontent following Israeli attacks on the port.

According to sources, Russia aims to expel Iran and it’s proxies from the region to control Latakia port after Russia already took control over Tartous port.

It is worth noting that Latakia port is 15 kilometers away from Hmeimim Russian base located south eastern to Latakia city.

In late December, SOHR activists reported that Russian air-defences in Hmeimim base in the Syrian coastline fired several missiles on unreal targets following a state of discontent by pro-regime civilians and public figures over the Russian inaction during the Israeli strikes which hit Latakia harbour on Tuesday.

In late December, SOHR sources reported that tens of pages run by pro-regime activists accused Russia of “plotting Syrians and coordinating with Israel to attack Latakia harbour, which is near the Russian airbase of Hmeimim.”

At that time, SOHR activists documented the death of two Regime-backed militiamen in the Israel attack on Latakia container terminal

Air defense sources told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that Russian forces had refrained from using (S300) air defense missiles to intercept Israeli missiles.
