Daraa security chaos | Unidentified gunmen attack military checkpoint, killing two regime soldiers

Daraa province: SOHR activists have documented the death of two regime soldiers in an attack by unidentified gunmen on a joint checkpoint, where members of the 52th Brigade and Air Force Intelligence are stationed, in the center of Al-Maliha Al-Gharbiyah at the junction of Rakhm village in the eastern Daraa countryside. The assailants managed to flee to an unknown destination.

Since the beginning of 2022, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented 19 assassination attempts and attacks by gunfire and detonations of IEDs in Daraa province, south of Syria.
These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 18 persons, including eight civilians and nine soldiers of regime forces and their security services, and former fighter of the factions who, after striking reconciliation deals, served in the ranks of the regime forces.
Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,315 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 962 persons, categorised as follows:
• Four anti-reconciliation local militants.
• 311 civilians, including 18 women and 26 children
• 419 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services
• 160 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders
• 31 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces
• 37 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia
