New disaster | Heavy rain and snow leave displaced people homeless in Idlib and Aleppo countryside

The Free Aleppo University has announced delay of exams scheduled to be held on Wednesday and Thursday because of the very bad weather.

It is worth noting that a sever low pressure weather front is hitting north-west Syria region, precisely areas in northern Idlib with the Syria border with Iskenderun region and northern countryside of Aleppo. Meteorologists have reported that the low pressure weather front will be accompanied by heavy rain and snow, and it will affect areas hosting camps from Salqin to Afrin.

This evening, residents and refugee camps’ inhabitants in Atma town on the Syria-Turkey border called upon rescue teams to help them to open canals for draining the water which flooded tents in the following camps: Al-Majd 3, Shahshaboo, Al-Omar, Khaled Ibn Al-Waleed, Zamzam 2, Al-Ihsan 1, Saberoun.

Meanwhile, snow has been piled in camps in Afrin and Azaz, damaging several tents in the camps of Huri, Jabal Bulbul and Raju in Afrin countryside, as well as blocking the roads to these camps placing challenges to rescue teams attempting to reach there.

Snow also damaged several tents in Shamarin camps and Yaziba’ camp on the Syria-Turkey border, near Bab Al-Salama crossing. Meanwhile, inhabitants of refugee camps turned to set fire to rubber tires, attempting to melt snow piled on their tents.
