Inclement weather | 200 tents damaged and 700 persons displaced in north makeshift camps

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that nearly 212 tents were damaged and 683 persons were displaced in makeshifts camps in Idlib and Aleppo countryside due to snows and rainfall that exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the camps of north Syria that were already worsened by the military operations and war.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented the number of damaged tents in the makeshift camps and their area as follows:

 

• Camp of Abraz village in Al-Maabatly region in northeast Afrin: 10 tents were damaged and more than 30 people were displaced.
• Camp of Zagrous at Raju-Afrin road: Seven tents were damaged and more than 40 people were displaced.
• Camp of Jabal Bulbul in north Afrin: 15 tents were damaged and more than 40 people were displaced.
• Camp of Bazbiyagh in Sajo town near Bab Al-Salamah crossing at the border with Turkey: Five tents were damaged and more than 13 people were displaced.
• Complex of Shamareen camps in north Ezaz: 25 tents were damaged and more than 60 people were displaced.
• Makeshift camps at the outskirts of Ezaz city in north Aleppo: More than 20 tents were damaged and nearly 50 people were displaced.
• Camp of Hawri Castle in Afrin countryside in north Aleppo: 30 tents were damaged and more than 50 people were displaced.
• Camp of Qarbaba in north Raju in Afrin countryside: Nearly 40 tents were damaged and more than 80 people were displaced.
• Camp of Al-Mahatah in Raju region in Afrin countryside: Nearly 20 tents were damaged and more than 40 people were displaced.
• Camp of Orient in Atamah complex of makeshift camps: More than 40 tents were damaged and nearly 80 families comprising of 300 people were displaced to more stabled camps due to the heavy rainfall.

We, at SOHR, intensify that the number of tents that were damaged and the people who were displaced is more than the documented data, and stress the importance of providing aid to the people living in fragile tents that cannot withstand the inclement weather.
