SOHR sources have reported the death of a child as a ferry sank in Euphrates River near Jaradhi town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
This ferry is used to transport passengers between the two banks of Euphrates river that links areas controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces and areas controlled by regime forces and Iranian-backed militias.
It is the second drowning case since the beginning of 2022, as a baby girl died after being missing in Euphrates river on January 6, as passengers ferry had flipped at a river crossing between Al-Hawaij village in Deir Ezzor countryside, east of Euphrates, and Al-Mayadeen town, which is under the control of regime forces and Iranian-backed militias.
