SOHR: Signs Of Russian Control Over The Port Of Latakia

Syrian opposition sources reported that the Russian military police conducted a joint patrol with the Syrian regime forces in the port of Latakia, in a military measure aimed at spreading observation points in the port, and signs of Russian control over it, after it was subjected to two rounds of bombing from Israel in recent weeks, which were said to have targeted Iranian weapon containers.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that the Russian military police, accompanied by Syrian forces, conducted patrols in Latakia port on Monday, after the wave of popular discontent that followed the targeting of the port by Israeli weapons, and the Russian silence about the Israeli raids that targeted the container yard inside the port. And it led to a huge fire inside the port, accusing Russia of plotting against the Syrian people.

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country cannot ignore the presence of Russian and American bases and terrorist organizations in large parts of Syria, which is Turkey to the south.

In statements to reporters who accompanied him yesterday on his way back from a visit to Albania, he added that what he called “terrorist organizations”, in reference to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, which represent the backbone of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) coalition, have received and are still receiving great support from The United States, and Turkey cannot ignore this either.
