Anti-ISIS raids | Russian airstrikes kill nearly 10 ISIS’s fighters in Syrian desert


The Russian airforces continue their strikes on hotbeds of ISIS cells in different areas in the Syrian desert. The Russian fighter jets conducted more raids on the desert of Deir Ezzor and Al-Raqqah targeting ISIS caves and tunnels.

In this context, SOHR sources have documented the death of eight ISIS fighters in Russian airstrikes in the past few hours on the desert areas of Homes and Deir Ezzor while the other ten fighters have sustained different wounds.

By this attack, the Russian airstrikes on different areas in the Syrian desert since early 2022 have killed 19 ISIS fighters and wounded more than 62 others.

Accordingly, the number of airstrikes executed by Russian fighter jets on the Syrian desert since the beginning of January 2022 has exceeded 450.

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,636 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least three Russians, and 165 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings, and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Homs, Al-Suwaidaa, Hama, and Aleppo.

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, tens of shepherds, and other civilians were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 1,136 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardments in the same period.
