Anti-ISIS campaign | Regime forces comb and target ISIS hideouts with heavy artillery shells in Syrian desert

Regime forces, backed by militias loyal to them, have conducted intensive combing operations targeting ISIS hideouts and hotbeds in the Syrian desert, starting from the eastern desert of Homs through Hama-Aleppo-Al-Raqqa triangle to Deir Ezzor and Al-Raqqa deserts.

Regime forces have also targeted ISIS positions with heavy guns.

This combing campaign has coincided with airstrikes executed by Russian fighter jets and Russian reconnaissance aircraft flying over the desert.

Early today, SOHR activists reported that the Russian air forces continue their strikes on hotbeds of ISIS cells in different areas in the Syrian desert. The Russian fighter jets conducted further raids on the desert of Deir Ezzor and Al-Raqqah targeting ISIS caves and tunnels.

In this context, SOHR sources documented the death of eight ISIS fighters in Russian airstrikes in the past few hours on the desert areas of Homes and Deir Ezzor while the other ten fighters sustained different wounds.
