Humanitarian appeal | Displaced people in Al-Rukban camp call for urgent aid as snowstorm threatens their live

Helpless displaced persons in the “forgotten” camp of “Al-Rukban” in the Syrian Desert, via the Syrian Observatory, have appealed to provide the necessary assistance and urgent response to face the snowstorms and heavy rain that worsened the humanitarian situation in the camp housing nearly 11,000 displaced Syrians.

The impotent displaced people call for providing heating materials, blankets and clothes for children and women, as well as to ramp up the efforts to secure water after it freezes due to sub-zero temperatures.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the price of Al-shader in the camp amounted to 75,000 Syrian liras, equivalent to 20 USD. Camp residents also are struggling due to the lack of basic supplies such as electricity, services and heating materials.

The snowstorm and heavy rains damaged a large number of mud huts of the displaced people and damaged Al-Shawader that cover their mud huts also.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights calls on international humanitarian organizations to provide the necessary assistance to the displaced people in Al-Rukban camp in Syria-Iraq-Jordan border triangle.
