Prison attack | ISIS members attempt to storm blow Ghuwayran prison using car-bomb and fuel tanker

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported that Internal Security Forces are still imposing cordon around Ghuwayran prison in Al-Hasakah, along with arrival of military reinforcement to support the military forces in the region.

According to SOHR sources, ISIS cells tried to reach and blow up the prison’s gate using car-bomb and fuel truck, where clashes erupted with military forces, amid reports of several prisoners escaping.

On the same context, “International Coalition” jets opened fire with machineguns on different positions in the vicinity of Ghuwayran prison.

“International Coalition” jets flew over the region of Ghuwayran prison in Al-Hasakah and fired flares, to support security forces sieging the prison.

It is worth noting that, ISIS cells started a riot inside Ghuwayran prison, which was controlled by security forces.

SOHR activists had reported hearing loud explosion in Ghuwayran neighbourhood of Al-Hasakah city, along with rising tension among Internal Security Forces and SDF military forces.

According to sources, the explosion took place near “Al-Sina’a prison” which hosts ISIS prisoners, where the military forces cordoned off the prison, while no further information was reported.

On December 19, an explosion was heard in Al-Hasakah city as a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded while the passing of a “van” vehicle carrying SDF members through Al-Jweran neighborhood, injuring SDF member and another person who was at the site of the explosion.
