First massacre in 2022 | Deaths of ground attack in Afrin rise to eight including five children, SOHR condemns murder of civilians and renews calls to bring perpetrators to justice

Aleppo province: Reliable sources have informed SOHR that the deaths of the ground attack in Afrin city on Thursday night, rises to eight people, including five children, all of them were killed by rockets fired from areas where regime and Kurdish forces are deployed in north Aleppo.

The number of deaths is expected to rise because 30 people sustained wounds, some are in critical conditions.

It is worth noting that this is the first massacre across Syria since the beginning of 2022.

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the death of a woman and the injury of others in Merdmirimin village in Sharan district in Afrin countryside, northwest of Aleppo, as a military vehicle hit by guided-missile waged by Kurdish forces stationed in Al-Malikiyah village in Sharan district.

We, at SOHR, condemn the massacre and crime that killed civilians and renew calls on the international community for finding immediate serious settlement to end the war in Syria and bring the perpetrators to justice.
