Security vacuum in SDF-held areas | Four attacks in Deir Ezzor in a few hours
Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that unknown gunmen opened machinegun fire on a military checkpoint of Syria Democratic Forces on the road between Al-Kesrah and Al-Kebar (Hawi Al-Harmousiyah), leaving several SDF members injured.
On the other hand, a member of the Self-Defence Forces was injured in an attack by unknown assailants on a military post in Al-Kebar town in Deir Ezzor countryside.
These two attacks followed an attack in the centre of Theban town and another one on the house of a commander in Theban town in the past few hours.
SOHR sources have just reported that unidentified gunmen in a car opened machineguns fire on the house of an SDF commander in Theban district in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, injuring him lightly.
On the same context, clashes with machineguns erupted between unknown assailants and SDF members, before the attackers escaped.
This development came in light of the escalating security chaos across Syria since the early 2022.
On December 19, SOHR sources reported that an SDF fighter was killed and two others were injured, after being shot by unknown gunmen, believed to be of ISIS cells, near Hajin hospital in Deir Ezzor countryside.
Meanwhile, SDF cordoned off the area where the attack took place and set several checkpoints inside the city.
