“Set the Gallows” | Resident demonstrate in front of court house in Al-Suwaidaa, protesting judiciary

Al-Suwaidaa province: SOHR sources have reported that hundreds of residents staged a protest this morning in front of the court house in Al-Suwaidaa under the slogan “set the gallows”, condemning judges’ indulgence with criminals and calling for the execution of a young man known by his initials as F. H. for killing another young man known as Y. N. on January 23.

The protestors expressed their mistrust of judiciary and security services which release criminals and drug dealers in return for money. Also, one of the protestors has pointed out that the criminals are released after mediation by “Waz’aran” gangs which pay large sums of money to security services, before the released criminals move to the Syrian coastline where they enjoy their “freedom”.

It is worth noting that Al-Suwaidaa province experiences kidnappings and murders almost daily, as well as rampant drug business, while regime security services continue turning a blind eye.

The demonstrators stated that they would not hand over perpetrators of any crime committed in Al-Suwaidaa to security services, as the security services would release them in days.

On January 23, the body of Y. N. was found with gunshot wounds buried in Tel Harf area between Shaqa and Um Dabib towns in the eastern countryside of Al-Suwaidaa. According to SOHR sources, three people lured the young man under the pretext of “buying his a car”, before they killed him and stole the car and money in his possession.
