Left nearly 20 civilians dead, mostly children and women | Syrians mark 10th anniversary of Karm Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood’s massacre

SOHR renews its call to bring all criminals aided and abetted killing of innocent Syrian civilians to justice

On January 26, 2012, pro-regime “sectarian gunmen” committed a horrific massacre in Karm Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in the south of Homs city, after imposing a strict siege on the neighbourhood for a week, during which they bombarded residential houses with heavy artillery.

The massacre at that time left 19 civilians dead, some were executed by firing squad, while the others were slaughtered with sharp tools. The fatalities included seven children and seven women.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) would like to brings to mind all massacres committed against innocent and peaceful Syrian civilians by all conflicting and warring powers in Syrian territory.

We, at SOHR, renew our calls to bring all those responsible and those who aided and abetted the killing of Syrian people, mainly the Russian government, to justice. We also appeal to the international community and united nations to intensify their efforts to reach a political settlement which could potentially put an end to bloodshed in Syria.
