Aleppo’s Queiq River massacre nine years on | Dozens of Syrians killed by regime security services, no one ever held accountable

SOHR renews its call to bring all criminals aided and abetted the killing of innocent Syrian civilians to justice

On this day in 2013, Aleppo residents were horrified by a terrible massacre committed by the regime security services, when dozens of civilians were executed at the outskirts of Quwaiq River, located in Bustan Al-Qasr neighbourhood of Aleppo.

According to the Syrian Observatory, the bodies were found handcuffed and lying on the outskirts of the river with gunshot wounds to the head and eyes.

This horrific massacre is the greatest crime against humanity and is a part of a series of massacres committed by the regime, while widespread human rights violations and killings of civilians continue unabated by regime security services against the Syrians.

It is worth noting that Bustan Al-Qasr area was the entrance to the opposition-held areas at the time, the people were unable to retrieve some dead bodies because regime forces were there.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) would like to recall all massacres committed against innocent and peaceful Syrian civilians by all conflicting and warring powers in Syrian territory.

We, at SOHR, renew our calls to bring all those responsible and those who aided and abetted the killing of Syrian people, mainly the regime thugs, to justice. We also appeal to the international community and United Nations to intensify their efforts to reach a political settlement that could potentially put an end to bloodshed in Syria.
