Security campaign | SDF arrests more people in Deir Ezzor over Ghuwayran prison events

The SDF patrols have carried out a raid campaign in the village of Al-Roz, east of Deir Ezzor, on Sunday morning, arresting a number of people on charges of “dealing and belonging to ISIS,” SOHR sources said.

The SDF security campaign in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor comes in the light of recent events in Ghuwaran prison in Al-Hasakah.

Yesterday, Syrian Observatory sources reported that SDF patrols, backed by international coalition helicopters, carried out a series of raids in the early hours of Saturday morning, targeting a number of houses in search of ISIS escapees from Ghuwayran prison in Al-Hasakah city.

The SDF raided towns of Al-Sour, Tahat, Safiyah, Saad, Maizilah and other villages on Khabur crossing in the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

According to the Syrian Observatory sources, SDF patrols arrested a number of people including relatives of ISIS leader called by his nicknamed “Abu Ali Bekisi” and who escaped from Ghuwayran prison.

On January 28, reliable sources informed SOHR that Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested five people on charge of “dealing with and belonging to ISIS” in Theban town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor with weapons in their possession.

It is worth noting that the SDF continued security operation in different areas in Deir Ezzor countryside, where the SDF’s patrols arrested seven persons from Al-Basirah city on charges of “dealing with ISIS” and also arrested a person from Tayyeb Al-Fal village in north Deir Ezzor countryside.

Accordingly, the number of people arrested by the SDF in three days in different areas in Deir Ezzor countryside rises to 42.

Meanwhile, the SDF and its military forces were put on high alert and mobilised from Al-Raqqa countryside to the Deir Ezzor countryside.

This came amid blazing events in Ghuwayran prison in Al-Hasakah city.
