“Autonomous Administration” area | People complains about hiking prices and poor-quality bread

While the ““Autonomous Administration” areas in north-east Syria have been suffering worsening living conditions that are represented in shortage of fuel, and spreading long queues in front of the consumer co-operative societies to get food commodities, the people also suffer from the poor-quality subsidised bread in all bakeries that are supervised by “the Economic Committee” due to mixing large quantities of yellow corn flour with wheat flour.

Families complain about the insufficient rations allocated by the flour-distributed centres.

On February 1, the “Autonomous Administration” announced it will import 100,000 tons of wheat to boost the bakeries in north-east areas in Syria. The decision was taken after forming a crisis-management committee aiming at finding several solutions to the problems in the areas under the control of the “Autonomous Administration” in north-east Syria. Securing flour and bread issues top the list of crises in the region.

The “Autonomous Administration” areas in the past few days also have witnessed series of meetings with several authorities and chairmen of supply institutions and owners of bakeries and mills to put a plan for buying 100,000 tons of wheat from other areas to secure flour and bread.
