Fawaz release | Hundreds of Syrian children still abducted with no media focus

SOHR renews calls for an immediate release of all kidnapped people and to bring the perpetrators to justice

After settling the abduction of child ““Fawaz Qutayfan” and releasing him yesterday, we, at SOHR, stress that there are hundreds of abducted children in Syria and their destiny remains unknown till now and their voices have not reached the world like Qutayfan.

Qutayfan case went viral after the circulation of a video that showed his torture by the kidnappers and his abduction has turned into a case of public opinion. His abduction has finalized with a happy end after his release and return home. However, the fate of hundreds of kidnapped Syrians remains unknown as their cases have not been publicized.

Accordingly, we, at SOHR, renew our call for an immediate release of the kidnapped people whether children, women and men and call on the international society to quickly disclose the fate of them and expose all the involved parties in the crimes of abduction.

We, at SOHR, stress continuing our endeavours to attach high importance of the kidnapping issue and to transfer the voices of the kidnapped and their families to the world.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Qutayfan was released, after the kidnappers received a ransom. According to the sources, the gang left the child in a pharmacy in the city of Nawa in Daraa countryside.

A day earlier, SOHR reported that two days passed on delivering the ransom to the kidnappers of Qutayfan in Daraa, south of Syria amid cut of communication from the gang side that circulated a heartbreaking video of brutally torturing the boy. The video garnered sympathy of the people around the world.
