Afrin violations | Civilian dies of grief after seizure of his house, while, factions arrest civilians for “forming terrorist cells”

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have documented the death of an elder from Midanki village in Shaikh Al-Hadid district on February 12, after he was deprived of regaining his house which was taken over by Al-Sham legion faction by force. He was then forced to live with his sister for four years hoping that the Turkish-backed Al-Sham legion would leave his house, however he died of grief after continuous refusal by the faction to leave the house.

Regarding violations against civilian in Afrin, SOHR activists reported that a joint patrol of Military Police and Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah faction arrested four displaced civilians from Aleppo, including a child and a woman for charges of “forming a terrorist cell during the past week”, and a picture showing IEDs was posted as they were planning to cause explosions in Afrin.

On February 10, SOHR activists reported that members of a patrol of Sultan Murad faction arrested two civilians from Qotan village in Bulbul district on February 8 for “dealing with the former Autonomous-Administration” with the aim to collect a ransom.
While on February 5, the military police released three detainees from Shadira village in Jendires district, after their relatives had paid a 300 USD ransom for each detainee, who had been arrested on January 20, on charges of “dealing with the former Autonomous-Administration”.
