Iranian-backed militias blamed for the attack | Man and his two sons sustained various injuries and nearly 500 sheep stolen in eastern Aleppo

Reliable sources have told SOHR that a man and two of his sons from Al-Tuwaymat tribe were hit with gunshots fired by unknown gunmen, but believed to be Iranian-backed militiamen, in Maskana desert in eastern Aleppo.

 

The gunmen had stolen 500 sheep, before they escaped.

 

On September 5, 2021, SOHR sources reported that a man was found dead with gunshot wounds in the head in Ma’dan desert in Al-Raqqah province. According to SOHR sources, the victim was herding cattle in the area which is under the control of regime forces and their allies, which also ISIS members were prevalent in. Meanwhile, Iranian-backed militias were blamed for this crime, especially since such murders and other violations against civilians were committed in the region by these militias.

 

While on August 7, SOHR sources reported a new crime against shepherds and civilians in areas under the control of the Syrian regime and its proxy militias in the Syrian desert. According to SOHR sources, unknown gunmen stormed a house in Al-Atshanah village in the west of Al-Rasafah in Al-Raqqah desert in the previous day, where they slaughtered two men and stole cattle, amid accusations against Iranian-backed militias which are largely prevalent in this region of being involved into this crime. It is worth noting that ISIS cells were also prevalent in the region.

 

In March, reliable sources informed SOHR that four shepherds from Tel Daman district were found dead in farmlands in Rajm Al-Sawwan area in Khanaser desert in the southern countryside of Aleppo. According to SOHR sources, there were gunshot wounds at the heads of the four people.
