Landmine explosion | Regime and Iran-backed militiaman killed in eastern Hama countryside

Syrian Observatory activists have documented the death of a member of militias backed by the regime and Iran in an explosion of a landmine left behind of ISIS members in Uqayribat desert in the eastern Hama countryside.

On February 14, SOHR sources reported an explosion in a military bus carrying regime soldiers on the road between Homs and Maheen cities, which killed at least one soldier and injured others. However, the nature of the explosion remained unknown. SOHR activists had reported seeing ambulances transporting the casualties to the hospital in Maheen city in the southern countryside of Homs.

Meanwhile, regime forces cordoned off the hospital, amid a state of growing tension and security alertness.

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,644 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least three Russians, and 165 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, al-Raqqah, Homs, al-Suwaidaa, Hama and Aleppo.

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, tens of shepherds and other civilians were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 1,172 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardments in the same period.
