On charges of “communicating with Syrian regime” | HTS executes man from Idlib

SOHR reliable sources have documented the death of a man by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) in Idlib province in late January without handing in his body to his relatives. The man’s death has been just announced in the few past hours.

According to SOHR, the HTS arrested the man in May 2021 on charges of “communicating with the regime forces and giving them coordinates of military positions”.

It is worth noting that the executed man is from Kafrlatah village in south Idlib countryside.

On February 14, SOHR activists reported that the activist “Muhammed Ismail” from Saraqib is held in HTS prisons for 25 days for unknown reasons. HTS had not revealed his fate or the charges pressed against him.

According to SOHR sources, SDF security forces held the activist for 24 hours at Al-Ghazawiyah checkpoint on January 16, when he was en route from Idlib to A’zaz in northern Aleppo countryside, and released him after seizing his cell phone, equipment, personal documents and his car. On the following day, the Military Court in Idlib summoned him to receive his personal properties, but Security Forces arrested him at the court’s gates and seized his laptop, “hard” and “flashes”. His fate remains unknown until this moment.

It is worth noting that “Ismail” is an activist who worked on organizing the Syrian revolution and had a connection with several civil institutions.

“Ismail’s” parents demand his release and clarification on the reasons behind his arrest, despite denial by HTS to acknowledge that they arrested him.
