Factional infighting among groups loyal to regime | Two killed and one wounded in west Rif Dimashq

SOHR sources have reported that violent clashes took place in Bayt Jinn in the western countryside of Rif Dimashq province, near “Jabal Al-Sheikh” village, yesterday, between armed men from Bayt Jinn neighborhood and others from “Bayt Jinn” farm field.

According to sources, local groups affiliated to the regime and others serving under the banner of the “4th Division” fought for unknown reasons, which caused the death of at least two and wounding other five. The wounded and dead people were transferred to “Al-Sheikh Mamdouh Abazah” Hospital in Al-Qunitera and the armed men have set ablaze some houses and commercial shops in the region.

On January 13, SOHR reported that a former commander of “Al-Haramoun group” of opposition factions was killed after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Bayt Jinn village at the foot of Jabal Al-Sheikh in the southwestern countryside of the capital Damascus.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the commander who is known by his nickname “Moro,” was one of the most prominent persons who formed armed military battalions to fight the regime in 2011 in Bayt Jinn area, and previously had served as commander of “Al-Haramun group,” which included several opposition military factions, before he underwent “settlement” in 2018 and did not join any military ranks.

The commander was shot by gunmen in Bayt Jinn village days earlier, then was taken to a hospital in the capital Damascus, where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

It is worth noting that this is the fifth attack in Rif Dimashq since the beginning of 2022
