SOHR: Tens of Syrians leave Daraa and As-Suwayda to Libya in order to migrate to Italy

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced the arrival of about 200 Syrians to Italian territory by sea from the Libyan coast, noting that dozens of young men leave on a daily basis to Lebanon from Daraa and As-Suwayda; with the aim of traveling to Libya.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that the process of sending mercenaries loyal to Ankara continues without interruption, whether in the exchange or sending more of them to Libya.

He also explained that in light of the living crises, lack of security and safety, and the absence of job opportunities in the areas under the control of the regime, especially in southern Syria, there is an unprecedented migration of young men from Daraa and As-Suwayda to Libya through Lebanese territory in order to use the Libyan coasts to migrate to Italy through the smuggling lines in light of the lack of the minimum necessities of life in the country, and for fear of arrest and prosecution.

The observatory indicated, according to sources, that nearly 200 Syrian immigrants, most of whom are from Daraa, arrived in Italy by sea, from Libya, during the past few days.

The director of the Syrian Observatory had confirmed, earlier, that there are thousands of Syrian nationals who are present in western Libya in agreement with the Turkish government, and that what is known as a “Turkish security company” is the one who is bringing them from Syria and giving them legal cover in Libya.

He stated that about 150 members of the “Mohammed Al-Fateh Brigade” set out towards Turkey through the Hawar Kilis crossing in the northern countryside of Aleppo, where they will be transferred to Libya after the same number of mercenaries returned from Libyan territory to Turkey and then Syria.

He also said that they will receive a monthly salary of $300 in Libya, or the equivalent of the amount in Turkish lira, to be delivered in Afrin through an agent, while personal expenses will be deducted from those salaries.
