Deir Ezzor | A “cadre” assaults official in civil council, forcing him to appoint an employee

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that a “cadre” stormed the headquarters of the economy committee which is affiliated to Deir Ezzor Civil Council in Al-Ma’amel area, where he brandished his weapon at the chairman of the economy committee, forcing him to sign the letter of appointment of a man as “an employee in the branch of supply” in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.

In this context, residents of the area have protested the attack of the “cadre” and called for a protest tomorrow, Wednesday, against such practices.

On January 30, SOHR activists reported disputes between civilians in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside in front of a hospital in Al-Basira city, due to refusal to hire certain people among the hospital’s medical staff. Disputes evolved to clashes by fists and guns near the hospital.

In the same context, the organisation informed civilians about suspension of hospital’s work in Al-Basira city in protests against the events.

It is worth noting that this hospital had suspended work for the same reason two months ago, where the organization’s authority issue an official statement to close the hospital but after mediation and guarantees by tribe nobles and dignitaries that workers are not harmed, the hospital was reopened four days ago before the same incident was repeated today forcing the hospital to suspend again.

Reliable SOHR sources reported that the events of Al-Basira city came due to domination of tribes over organizations and public organizations by force and influence, creating chaos to achieve their goals.
