Sixth attack in 2022 | Israel targets areas controlled by Iranian-backed militias near Damascus international airport, killing six people and destroying weapons warehouse

SOHR activists have reported that Israeli missiles fired from the occupied Syrian Golan, in the early hours of Thursday morning, targeted posts and weapons warehouses of Iran-backed militias in the vicinity of Damascus international airport.

The missiles also targeted the air-defence system in areas along Al-Keswah and Al-Syidah Zaynab districts in south of Damascus. Meanwhile, the regime air-defence system attempted to intercept the missiles which causing violent explosions.

On the other hand, missile shrapnel hit areas in Deir Salman in eastern Ghouta.

According to SOHR sources, the Israeli attack has caused the death of six people: two members of the regime forces and four members of Iran-backed militias, whose nationalities remain unknown. The Israeli attack also caused destruction of weapon and ammunition warehouses in the vicinity of Damascus International Airport.

This is the sixth Israeli attack on the Syrian land since early 2022.

Yesterday, SOHR reliable sources reported that Israeli missiles fired from the occupied Syrian Golan, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, targeted a finance building in Al-Ba’ath city, and other posts in the vicinity of Al-Rowhinah village.

The attack caused only material damages. It is worth noting that Hezbollah and other Iranian factions are active and have posts in Al-Rowhinah and Al-Ba’ath areas.
