New attack | Four assaults in Daraa today leave five people dead

Daraa province: SOHR activists have documented the death of a member of the Russian-backed 5th Corps, who was also an agent of the Air Force Intelligence, where unidentified gunmen shot him in front of his house in the northern neighbourhood of Al-Na’ema town in the eastern Daraa countryside.

Accordingly, the number of assassinations and attacks has risen to four during the day, where five people were killed.

A few hours ago, SOHR activists documented the death of a major officer of the political security of the regime, who was responsible for Nasib border crossing between Syria and Jordan, in an attack by unidentified gunmen, where a car of the political security was targeted near Al-Batal palace on the highway between Damascus and Daraa leading to overturning of the car who contained several people, without knowing the condition of the other people.

On the other hand, a person who was accused by civilians of “drug trafficking” was killed in Al-Sanmin, where he was shot by unidentified gunmen, before they fled.

Earlier today, SOHR activists documented the death of two members of the regime-backed 5th Division, in a direct attack by unidentified gunmen on the highway between Ain Zikr and Tasil towns in the western Daraa countryside.

Accordingly, the number of attacks in Daraa province since early February has risen to 41, which left 33 people: 12 civilians, one security suspect, nine individuals with settled-status, three unidentified persons and eight members of regime forces, security services and “collaborators,” dead.
Since early 2022, the number of attacks in Daraa province has risen to 71, which left 56 people: 27 civilians, 22 regime soldiers, members of security services and regime “collaborators,” three individuals with settled-status, one security suspect, ex-ISIS member and three unidentified people, dead.
Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,364 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 1001 persons, categorised as follows:
• Five local gunmen of anti-reconciliation groups.
• 330 civilians, including 18 women and 27 children
• 426 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.
• 168 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders.
• 31 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces.
• 38 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
• Three unidentified people.
