Despite repeated appeals to stop recruitment of children | “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” kidnaps two children in Ain Al-Arab (Kobani)

SOHR sources have reported that members of “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” (the Revolutionary Youth) kidnapped two children in Al-Jadeed neighbourhood in Ain Al-Arab city (Kobani). One of the two children is known by his initials as D. M. from Kharab Kurt village in Ain Al-Arab countryside, while the other is known as M. M. from Tel Hajeb village in Ain Al-Arab countryside. It is worth noting that the two children were born in 2008.

Meanwhile, “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” continues luring minors and driving them to its military camps, blatantly violating all human rights identified by international charters which the Autonomous Administration and Syria Democratic Forces, the holders of power in this region, have signed. Moreover, the frequent appeals by residents to stop exploiting and recruiting children by “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” remained unheeded.

On February 26, SOHR activists reported that “the Revolutionary Youth” abducted a 13-year-old girl known by her initials as M. F. from Ain Al-Arab (Kobani), who was displaced from Deir Ballout village in Afrin countryside and took her to its camp.

While on February 17, SOHR sources reported that the “Child Protection” office informed the father of a child known as “Mohamed Azad Hasan”, who had been kidnapped by “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” (the Revolutionary Youth), that “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriyah” had refused to hand over the child, despite the office’s demands during an interview on Alarabiya TV channel, as well as repeated demands by other bodies.

It is worth noting that the “Child Protection” office works on mediating between the families of kidnapped children and the kidnappers in order to bring the children back to their families peacefully.

Via the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the mother of “Mohamed Azad” appealed to the command of Syria Democratic Forces to set her son free. The family lost communication with Mohamed at 08:30 pm on January 26.
