Jandarma violations | Turkish soldiers assault and kick out youth to Syrian territory

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported that members of the Turkish Jandarma have severely beaten seven young men who attempted to sneak into Turkish territory through smuggling in Al-Dirbasiyah countryside northern of Al-Hasakah.

The young men were beaten by the backs of guns and kicked, leaving them with bruises and injuries in different areas of their bodies, and were then kicked back to Syrian territory in the eastern side of Al-Dirbasiyah.

On February 20, Turkish border guards “Jendarma” severely beat two young men, one from Darbasiyah and another from Al-Qamishli, while trying to cross the Syrian-Turkish border near Darbasiyah city in Al-Hasakah countryside, via smuggling routes, causing injuries and broken arms and legs.
The Turkish “Jandarma” had arrested them, stripped off their clothes, beaten them, and then threw them behind the border strip opposite Darbasiyah city in Al-Hasakah countryside.

We, at the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), condemn attacks and violent pushbacks by the Turkish Jandarma against Syrian civilians who flee the woes of war near the Syria-Turkey border.
