Attempting to flee from security headquarters | Military Police shoot young man in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have documented the injury of a young man from Abu Hamam town in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, where he was shot by members of the Military Police, while he was trying to flee from their headquarters in Gharanij town. The young man was arrested due to fighting with a member of the Military Police in Al-Qahawy junction.

According to reliable SOHR sources, members of the Military Police had tortured and assaulted the young man inside the headquarters, which spurred him to try to flee, before being shot by the members of the Military Police.

On March 6, SOHR sources reported that an SDF patrol stormed Abu Hamam town in eastern Deir Ezzor, after blocking all entrances of the town. The patrol’s members stormed the houses of people who had clashes with a patrol of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) last week, which led to the death of an Asayish member at that time. During the security campaign, the patrol members and some suspects traded fire, before the house of one of the suspects was set on fire while others were arrested.
According to Syrian Observatory sources, the military forces cordoned off all villages and towns in Al-Shaddadi area and deployed in the city centre.
