Fearing US and Israeli attacks | Militias leaders backed by Iran redeploy in new fortified posts in Palmyra city

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Iranian-backed militia leaders have been stationed in new positions in Palmyra city in the eastern countryside of Homs, fearing possible attacks by the US or Israel.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the new fortified positions in which the militia leaders have been stationed are “Industrial secondary school, desert authority building and Co-op centre.”

On March 13, SOHR sources reported intensive and unusual movements of Iranian-backed militias in different areas across Syria. These redeploying and positioning of militias continue for hours.

In the western Euphrates region, Iranian-backed militias in Al-Bokamal and its desert, Al-Mayadeen and its countryside changed their positions and outposts and stationed in new posts, transported weapons and ammunition to other locations in Al-Shibli area, Al-Mazarea in the outskirts and desert of Al-Mayadeen and in Al-Raqqah.

Syrian Observatory sources reported that the Iranian-backed militias transported their forces and weapons from two areas of Al-Maadan desert to the desert.

Syrian Observatory sources had also added unusual movements of Iranian-backed militias in Palmyra and its desert and other areas in the eastern countryside of Homs, as these militias repositioned in new sites there and evacuated warehouses and points.

It’s worth noting that similar operations on the outskirts of the capital Damascus and near the border with Lebanon in Rif Dimashq had occurred.

This followed the missile attack on Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq that affected the area of the US embassy there.
