Two separate incidents | Young man and child kill themselves in Idlib countryside

Idlib province: SOHR activists have reported that two civilians killed themselves in separate incidents in the past 24 hours in Idlib province for unknown reasons.

 

According to Observatory sources, a displaced young man from Aleppo city shot himself in the house of his grandfather’s house in Salqin city in western Idlib.

 

While a 13-year-old boy hanged himself to death in Kamounah camp in southern Sarmada in the northern countryside of Idlib. It is worth noting that the boy has been displaced from Um Jurn village of Al-Sfirah city in Aleppo countryside.

 

On February 27, SOHR sources reported that suicide cases increased among civilians especially young people to escape the harsh living conditions in north Syrian.

 

Civilians commited suicide in different methods, including hanging using ropes, shooting themselves, consuming poison, due to accumulation of psychological pressure caused by poverty, homelessness, lack of job opportunities and poor income.

 

In this context, SOHR sources reported that a displaced young man known by his initials as A. K. hanged himself to an olive tree in a garden. Reasons behind his actions remained unknown.

 

The victim was 19 years old and had been displaced from Talmanas town in Idlib countryside to Al-Shaikh Bilu camp in Rajo district in Afrin in northern Aleppo countryside.

 

SOHR activists documented the death of a young woman and injury of another severely, who live in Al-Fo’a town northern of Idlib in a suicide attempt via consuming “poisonous pills”, as a result of their poor psychological conditions, poverty and displacement.

 

This came in light of the deteriorating living conditions especially of displaced civilians.

 

While on December 8, SOHR activists reported that a displaced man from Hama province committed suicide after being kicked out of the house he lived in Idlib due to his inability to pay the rent. After he was unable to find a job or a house, he went to Afrin city hoping to secure a home and a job to support his family, but to no avail. Accordingly, the man decided to kill himself.
