Violations in Afrin | Military Police releases detainee and arrests others for ransoms

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that a Military Police patrol has arrested two civilians from “Mamala” village in Rajo district in Afrin countryside during the past few days, without knowing the charges pressed against them.

The members of the patrol demanded ransoms to release the civilians.

On the same context, the Military Police released a civilian, who had been arrested for “trafficking in drugs and weapons” and is displaced from Aleppo, for a ransom of 2,000 USDs.

Earlier today, SOHR sources reported that members of a patrol of the military security services arrested a civilian on March 30 in Qarzihal village in Shirawa district for “working in institutions of the Autonomous Administration during its control of Afrin canton.” The security service asked for a ransom for the release of the civilian.

On the other hand, a civilian from Iska village in Shirawa district was arrested for “performing military service during the Autonomous Administration’s control of Afrin” by members of a military police patrol on March 20 in Afrin city.

Also the military police released a civilian from Ramadiyah village in Jendires on March 28, after he paid a ransom of an estimated 2,000 USD.
