Continuous sabotage of archaeological hills | Turkish-backed factions excavate “Al-Hajajiyah hill” in Afrin

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that members of the “National Army” factions continue drilling and excavating for antiques in the archaeological Al-Hajajiyah hill.

The hill is located near Deir Ballot in Jinderes district, where it was subjected to destruction by heavy bulldozers affecting most of the hill’s base and its vicinity in search for buried treasures. The hill is registered under the Syrian Antique Directorate.

The archaeological hill has been bulldozed by heavy machineries with the destruction of its layers, in addition to dozens of pomegranate that were uprooted. The sabotage affected nearly 15,000 square meters on the Acropolis all the way to the vicinity of the high hill.

On April 6, SOHR activists reported that members of Turkish-backed factions bulldozed the archaeological “Habishko” hill, which is located in Rajo district near the Turkish-Syrian borders on the left bank of the black river.
The hill was subjected to bulldozing by heavy machineries in search for buried treasures and antiques, where over 24,500 square metres were bulldozed.
