Military escalation | Ankara-backed factions and Kurdish forces trade fire on frontlines, north of Aleppo

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported exchange of medium and heavy machineguns between Kurdish forces deployed in the area and Turkish-backed National Army factions on the frontlines of Ain Duqnah and Kaljbrin in the northern countryside of Aleppo in the early hours of Wednesday morning. However, no casualties have been reported.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported artillery fire by Turkish forces and their proxy factions on Mar’naz and Ain Daqnah villages and the surrounding areas of Menagh town in areas where Kurdish forces are deployed in the northern countryside of Aleppo. However, no casualties were reported.

On April 7, SOHR activists reported that several rockets hit Al-Shawargha and Anab villages in Sharran district in Afrin countryside, in areas held by Kurdish forces in northern Aleppo.

The rockets were fired by Turkish forces stationed in “Olive Branch” areas. However, no casualties were reported.

This bombardment followed cautious calm in the area since late March.

On March 28, SOHR activists had reported that regime forces fired several rockets on two Turkish military bases in the areas of Maklpis and Sheikh Suleiman on the outskirts of Darat Azza in the western countryside of Aleppo, injuring two Turkish soldiers.
