The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

After hacking the official website of Syrian Observatory and threatening its director with killing, “Islamic state” considers the Observatory’s director “apostate”

In the tenth edition of Dabeq Magazine, on page 66, the group published a June 7 report by SOHR aboutabout the airstrikes carried out by US- led coalition warplanes on IS- held areas in the town of Soran I’zaz, which has witnessed clashes between IS militants against Jabhat al- Nusra, the rebel and Islamist factions, located in the northern countryside of Aleppo. The report attached with a photo of Rami Abdurrahman the director of Syrian Observatory of Human Right describing him as “apostate”; the same judgment issued by IS against dozens of civilians of its victims who were executed by beheading or firing.

This labelling of the director of Observatory as “apostate” comes after a July 8 cyber-attack launched by hackers called themselves the “Cyber Army of the Khilafah”, where they wiped out the data on the Observatory official website and temporarily shut it down. They also made a photo montage showing the director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Mr. Rami Abdurrahman wearing “the orange jumpsuit” used by Islamic State when they plan to execute a captive.  Next to this image was the IS executioner known internationally as “Jihadi John”. The hackers wrote on SOHR website “In a spectacular and unique surprise attack, the Cyber Army of the Khilafah broke into the computer systems of SOHR, or what is known as “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” organization, seized control of its websites, destroying it, and wiping out data. Due to the damage caused and great loss of data, the SOHR organization has decided to close its gates and instead advises its visitors to follow up on the latest news and events by following the Islamic State’s official media.

Another sentence was added as well: “Until further notice the SOHR organization will be known as ‘The Islamic Right to Hunt

Kuffar’.”

The hackers also pasted links of the “Dabeq Magazine” issued by Islamic State.

It is worth noting that the  regime opponents, who are supported by one of the neighboring countries of Syria, also attacked SOSHR 2 days ago because it refuses to engage in a campaign to stir the Arab – Kurdish strife.

SOHR has also been subject to regime media because it documents the massacres committed by the regime air force across Syria.
