34-day of suffocating blockade | Ongoing siege of Aleppo’s Al-Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh by 4th division and blocking foodstuffs entry into Al-Hasakah and Al-Qamishli by Asayish
For the 34th consecutive day, members of “Fourth Division” checkpoints continue their blockade of Al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood and Al-Ashrafieh in Aleppo, which are controlled by Internal Security Forces “Asayish”, by preventing the entry of flour supplies and foodstuffs amid suspension and stop of the work of bread bakeries.
Meanwhile, Asayish has continued for the eighth consecutive day to prevent the entry of foodstuffs and flour supplies into regime-controlled areas of Al-Hasakah and Al-Qamishli city, causing the stoppage of the work of bakery Al-Hasakah Al-Awal in Al-Hasakah and Ba’ath bakery in Al-Qamishli city.
Yesterday, SOHR activists reported that the Internal Security Forces “Asayish” are still besieging the security zone area in Al-Qamishly, amid reports of an agreement between them and regime forces to allow employees to work in the governmental institutions which “Asayish Forces” took control On April 14.
This came in light of the siege imposed on Al-Shaikh Maqsod and Al-Ashrafiyah neighbourhoods by the “4th Division” in Aleppo.
It is worth noting that the “Fourth Division” checkpoints began their siege of Al-Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighbourhoods in Aleppo city on March 13, preventing the introduction of food and flour supplies into the two neighbourhoods. While Asayish Internal Security Forces began preventing food and flour supplies from entering on April 8. The tension is ongoing until now, despite reports of Russian mediation to end it.
