Preoccupied with its war in Ukraine | Russia halts aerial operations in the Syrian desert for the first time since early April

The Syrian desert has experienced cessation of Russian aerial operations since yesterday. SOHR activists have confirmed that Russian fighter jets have not executed any airstrikes on ISIS positions in the Syrian desert on Monday. It is worth noting that Russian aerial operations returned to escalate noticeably with the beginning of April. This coincides with the start of the second stage of Russian military operations in Ukraine.

It is also worth noting that Russian fighter jets executed 357airstrikes on the Syrian desert since the beginning of April 2022

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Russian fighter jets executed nearly 27 airstrikes on ISIS hideouts and hotbeds in Al-Rasafah and Maadan Ateeq deserts in Al-Raqqah countryside on Sunday. No casualties were reported.

It is worth noting that regime forces and their proxy militias carried out daily combing campaigns throughout the Syrian desert, searching for ISIS cells, but to no avail.
