A teenager has pleaded guilty to assaulting a Syrian refugee in Wollongong.

Kayla Hampton-Hill appeared in Port Kembla court on Tuesday charged with two counts of common assault, and one count of affray.

The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to one charge of common assault, and pleaded not guilty to the remaining offences.

Ms Hampton-Hill is accused of being involved in an allegedly racially motivated attack on a Syrian National in Wollongong, in April.

Police say the 21-year-old man was assaulted at a youth centre on the corner of Burelli and Kenny streets.

It is alleged a woman racially abused the victim and his group of friends.

A boy, 16, and a man, 18, allegedly assaulted the victim before pushing him into a parked motorbike, causing it to fall.

The owner of the motorbike, an 18-year-old man, then allegedly joined in the attack, punching and kicking the victim.

The victim was taken to Wollongong Hospital with serious facial injuries including a broken nose.

Police said they had charged the two men and the boy with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Ms Hampton-Hill is due to face court again at the end of August.
