Saydnaya prison | Dissident regime army officer from Daraa dies under torture after four years of detention

The family of a dissident officer of regime army from Nawa city in Daraa countryside have received their son’s body after he was died under torture in Saydnaya military prison, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights sources reported.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the family has received the body of the officer last Tuesday, April 19, and buried it Al-Harfoush cemetery, east of Nawa.

The 34-year-old officer had surrendered to regime security services in December 2018 following a “settlement” agreement in Daraa province, following the issuance of an amnesty decree for dissidents, but this did not help him to be killed under torture in Saydnaya prison.

Reliable sources have confirmed that the victim’s relatives had paid huge sums of money in order to find out the fate of their son, who had been arrested in Sednaya military prison for nearly four years before he was handed over a lifeless body.

Accordingly, the number of civilians who died under torture in regime prisons which have been documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights since the beginning of 2022 has risen to 64 including a dissident army officer and 38 people from Eastern Ghouta whose death certificates were delivered by regime to their families in February.
