Sudden withdrawal l Iranian-backed militias capture Palmyra military airport following pull out of Russian troops and aircraft

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Russian forces have withdrawn completely from Palmyra military airport in the eastern countryside of Homs, All Russian troops left the airport by a military hovercraft before Russian troops pulled their helicopters out of the airport and all troops have left the airport. However, the nature of this withdrawal remains unknown, and it is not clear whether it is a tactical withdrawal and forces will return to it at any moment, or whether it is a complete withdrawal for purposes.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, Russian helicopters and forces that have left Palmyra airport headed to Tifor airport in the countryside of Homs, thus Lebense Hezbollah and Iranian-backed Afghan “Fatimiyoun” militia have captured Palmyra military airport. It is worth noting that some regime soldiers and officers are present at the airport.

In December 2021, SOHR activists reported that eight Russian helicopters had arrived at Palmyra military airport, coming from Russia’s Hmeimim base in Latakia province.
