Amid combing campaign by regime-backed militias | Russian jets target ISIS positions in the Syrian desert with tens of airstrikes

Regime-backed militias, mainly the National Defence Forces (NDF), continue their security campaign in the eastern desert of Hama, where they are combing Itherya desert and Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle in the desert to dismantle landmines and IED planted earlier by ISIS members in these areas.

On the other hand, Russian fighter jets continued their airstrikes on ISIS positions in the Syrian desert, where they targeted positions in Al-Rasafa desert in Al-Raqqah province, east Homs deser and Hama desert with over 35 airstrikes. However, no casualties have been reported.

Accordingly, the number of airstrikes carried out by Russian fighter jets on the Syrian desert since early April 2022 has risen to 425.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that six Russian fighter jets were consecutively bombarding ISIS hideouts and hotbeds in an area stretching from Al-Sukhnah desert in the eastern countryside of Homs to Deir Ezzor desert, running through Al-Rusafah desert and south-east of Al-Raqqah. These consecutive attacks on ISIS hideouts were a part of the first escalation of bombardment by Russian fighter jets on the Syrian desert in April.
