Failed assassination attempt | Unidentified gunmen attack collaborator with regime security services in northern Daraa countryside

Daraa province: SOHR activists have documented a new assassination attempt that occurred in Daraa in light of rampant security chaos that pervades Syrian territories, especially Daraa province, when unidentified gunmen have targeted a person working for “military security” services in Al-Sanamayn town in the northern countryside of Daraa, injuring his brother, who was accompanied by him. The injured man has been taken to hospital.

Since early 2022, the number of attacks in Daraa province has risen to 161, which left 132 people dead; and they are as follows:

• 68 civilians, including a woman and four children.

• 50 regime military personnel, “collaborators” with security services and members with settled-status working for regime services and backed militias.

• Seven former fighters who did not join any military formation, after striking reconciliation deals.

• An ex-ISIS member.

• Five unidentified people.

• A Russian-backed militiaman.
