Mysterious murder | Beheaded body of man in his fifties found in Al-Raqqah city

SOHR sources have reported that a man was found dead and beheaded near Misloun farm in the north of Al-Raqqah city. However, the identity of the man remained unknown. This comes in light of the security chaos throughout Syria.

 

SOHR activists documented 14 attacks staged by ISIS cells across SDF-held areas in Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqa, Al-Hasakah, and Aleppo countryside, as ISIS spokesman announced, on April 17, a new military campaign of “Vengeance for the Two Sheikhs, Al-Sheikh Abi Ibrahim Al-Hashemi Al-Qurashi, and Al-Sheikh Al-Muhajir Abi Hamza Al-Qurashi, the former ISIS leader and spokesman,” who were killed in early February 2022 by an operation waged by US forces in the border town of Atma with Turkey, north of Idlib.

 

These attacks left ten people dead; they are as follows:

 

  • Eight members of SDF and Asayish.

 

  • A driver of martyrs families institution in Al-Raqqah.

 

  • A former member of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

 

In addition, these attacks, including armed attacks on checkpoints, patrols, assassinations, and explosions, have left 14 members injured.

 

Here are further details of attacks waged by ISIS cells in SDF areas after an ISIS spokesman announced ” The battle of vengeance for Two Sheikhs.”

 

  • April 18: Unidentified gunmen wielding a military pistol opened fire on a military investigator of SDF Public Security in Manbij in Al-Hazawnah neighbourhood, injuring him.

 

  • April 18: Two SDF members were killed, and three others were critically injured as an IED exploded in SDF military vehicle while passing through Al-Romanyah district in Al-Raqqah.

 

  • April 20: Unidentified gunmen wielding a silencer stormed the house of a driver of Martyrs’ Families Institution in Al-Karamah town, east of Al-Raqqah, killing the driver.

 

  • April 21: Gunmen, believed to be ISIS fighters, attacked Internal Security Forces “Asayish” checkpoint in Sahlah Al-Banat, adjacent to Tel Al-Bayaa cemetery, east of Al-Raqqah.

 

  • April 21: Two SDF members from Deir Ezzor countryside were killed in an attack staged by ISIS members on “SDF” checkpoint near Al-Sijar village, north of Deir Ezzor.

 

  • April 22: ISIS armed men attacked a SDF military vehicle on Al-Kharafi road in the outskirts of Al-Hasakah province, injuring four members, amid reports of deaths.

 

  • April 23: Two members of “Asayish” Internal Security Forces were shot dead by gunmen, believed to be ISIS members, in Al-Shahabat village in Deir Ezzor countryside.

 

  • April 23: Three border guard forces were injured by an IED that hit their car while passing on Al-Mashhaniyah road in Al-Yarubiyah countryside in Al-Hasakah province.

 

  • April 24: ISIS members attacked a SDF outpost in the vicinity of Al-Omar oilfield in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, “the largest military base of International Coalition in Syria,” injuring an SDF member.

 

  • April 24: ISIS fighters waged an attack on SDF checkpoint at Al-Sabha town in the eastern countryside of DeirEzzor, injuring a SDF member. The injured member was transferred to Al-Kasrah hospital in western Deir Ezzor countryside.

 

  • April 24: A “SDF” member was killed and another injured in an attack carried out by armed men, believed to be ISIS cells, on a SDF checkpoint in Harizah village near Al-Basirah village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

  • April 24: Asayish Internal Security Forces member was shot dead by unidentified persons, believed to be ISIS members, in Mahimida town in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

  • April 25: An IED exploded in the car of the fighter office official of SDF Manbij Military Council in Manbij city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. No casualties were reported.

 

  • April 25: The residents found the body of a former SDF member shot dead by unknown gunmen, believed to be ISIS fighters, in Haraqat Al-Naft area in Al-Jaradhi in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

Since early 2022, SOHR has documented 76 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

 

According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 54 persons dead: 18 civilians and 36 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces, and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

 

It is worth noting that these attacks have not included the operation of Ghuwayran prison, which left heavy losses.
