17th case of abandoned babies in 2022 | People find newborn baby dumped in farmland in northern Homs countryside

SOHR activists have reported that a group of people have found a “newborn” baby in an agricultural land in Tirmalah village in the northern countryside of Homs.

The newborn baby has been transferred to Al-Walid hospital in Al-Waer neighbourhood and placed in neonatal intensive care unit. According to the residents, the child is only hours old.

This is the 17th case of abandoned babies documented by SOHR since the beginning of 2022 in areas controlled by the Syrian regime.

On April 30, SOHR activists reported that residents found a four-days-old newborn baby abandoned in agricultural land eastern of Karnaz town in Hama countryside.

On April 28, SOHR activists reported that residents found a two-month old baby boy at the door of Islamic orphanage in Al-Wa’r neighbourhood in Homs city, where the child was transported to Al-Walid hospital and put in nursery to ensure he is healthy.

On April 21, SOHR sources reported that the body of a newborn baby, nearly hours old, was found in one of the orchards in Jaramana city in Rif Dimashq.
