SOHR: Kurdish forces reach deal on lifting food blockade

Syrian regime forces permitted the entry of supplies of flour two days ago into the mainly Kurdish neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, which are under the control of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), following a blockade of foodstuffs that lasted a month and a half.

RIC cited local sources who stated a joint committee from the autonomous administration and the Syrian government will monitor the regime’s checkpoints around the northern neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh, and that residents of al-Shehba, north of Aleppo, will be allowed to enter the city.

Kurdish security forces (Asayish) have also opened a number of roads that were blocked during the siege in Qamishlo, while regime forces have withdrawn from some checkpoints in the city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Asayish began removing road barriers blocking the security zone in Qamishlo on Thursday

Al-Baath Bakery in Qamishlo renewed operations following the 20-day blocked by Kurdish security forces, the Syrian Arab News Agency said on Friday.
